It's the summer of 1983, and precocious 17-year-old Elio Perlman is spending the days with his family at their 17th-century villa in Lombardy, Italy. He soon meets Oliver, a handsome doctoral student who's working as an intern for Elio's father.

Longtime friends and lovers Rachel and Heck finally tie the knot, and during the celebration, Rachel starts a friendship with their florist, Luce. Rachel originally intends to set her new friend Luce up with her husband's friend Cooper, but soon discovers that Luce is a lesbian.

For Shirin, being part of a perfect Persian family isn't easy. Acceptance eludes her from all sides: her family doesn't know she's bisexual, and her ex-girlfriend, Maxine, can't understand why she doesn't tell them. Even the six-year-old boys in her moviemaking class are too ADD to focus on her for more than a second.

Ed (Edward Hogg) is a stand up comedian in his early thirties; he is handsome charming, witty and lost. Trying to make it on the London comedy circuit, he spends his nights performing in small rooms above pubs and his days making ends meet at a call centre.
