Cap City Kiki Ballroom Alliance Launch

Cap City Kiki Ballroom Alliance in collaboration with AIDS Committee of Ottawa, Somerset West Community Health Centre, Capital Pride, and MAX Ottawa (in affiliation with Keeping It 100) present the OFFICIAL launch of the collective.

CCKBA is an incentive to bring ballroom arts to the city of Ottawa by means of education, practice, and application for LGBTQ+ youth.

This FREE workshop will provide a full breakdown behind the history of Canadian ballroom. Not only will attendees gain context behind the categories, but they will be given the chance to use the knowledge by practicing.

Led by the legendary Twysted Miyake-Mugler, member of the iconic House of Miyake-Mugler and founder of the kiki House of Siriano. Twysted has made it a point to spread the knowledge of ballroom culture across Canada (including Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, and Vancouver) as a pioneer of the scene. In 2008, he won virgin vogue in Detroit followed by 4 OTY (of the year) wins within the Western New York circuit. Having co-founded the Toronto Kiki Ballroom Alliance along with his work with Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention, Twysted remains an active figure within the LGBT community while filling the gap for QPOC by helping create safe spaces for them.
