A Special Concert with Matt Alber

Songwriter Matt Alber is set to take the stage at Aeolian Hall September 30, 2016 at 8 p.m. The winner of two Grammy Awards with the group Chanticleer, Matt has had an incredible career as a classically-trained counter-tenor and now as an internationally renowned singer/songwriter.

Matt’s performance at The Aeolian will include The Pride Men’s Chorus London for three numbers as back-up singers and also collaboration with members of the El Sistema Aeolian Youth orchestra and choir in workshops and performance.

Matt will also be graciously donating 10% of proceeds back to the El Sistema program.

As a member of the LGBTQ community, Matt has a special interest in celebrating gay romance in his songs. His special performance at Lincoln Center celebrating The American Songbook can be viewed on Youtube. Matt performs regularly with Gay Men’s Choruses and has a special love for choral music as he grew up singing in community choirs. 

A special recent project has been his collaboration and work with the Bridging Voices Youth Choir from Portland Oregon. Matt loves working with youth and song and has a special affinity for this choir. “It’s the kind of choir I always wanted to be in when I was young”. The choir is made up of members of many different schools from the Portland area and members include youth from all gender identities and sexual orientations. It’s mission is “to create a safe, welcoming and accessible place for queer, straight and questioning youth to experience empowerment and unity through music.”
